creative reflection
Write 500-600 words reflecting on your experience this semester.
What did you learn about creativity and your own creative styles?
I learned that creativity can be so much more than just art and music. Before this class, I didn't really have a grasp on what creativity really meant. Now, I know that creativity is everywhere and you can find it if you just look. My own creative style is still making a piece of art or music, but I learned about myself that I am good at making movements like a play.
What did you learn about your work habits and the process of completing large projects and how to get work done?
I learned to always do what you can and don’t put your work off. On some projects we had in this class, I put off work until the end which made it stressful. I also learned to do what you can as soon as possible.
What did you learn about working in a group and collaborating?
I learned that working in a group is the best and most fun for me. Creativity is best when multiple brains are working on it. I also learned that everyone has to pitch in to make something really good.
What in the course was difficult and challenged you?
What was difficult for me in this course was getting work done. I had a lot of assignments that were overdue when I turned them in. This class taught me a lesson with missing work. Another challenging aspect of this course was waking up early. I had to adapt, because I was not used to it. I had to go to bed earlier to wake up.
What did you enjoy? What was engaging or interesting?
I enjoyed doing anything creative in this class. Anything like making movements, creating something, going on walks and taking pictures, any activities we did which involved creativity. I also enjoyed working with groups. What was interesting was learning about creativity. When we learned about people making clothing, or art I was engaged.
How did you grow or change? Think back to the beginning of the semester (legos and drawings and games in class and learning about different creative people) and compare to your final creative manifesto project.
I grew as a creative person by finding what I do best creatively. I learned that I am best when creating something I love, like a piece of art. That was my final project, a sculpture/painting. At the beginning of the year, I knew I liked painting and saw that, but I got more involved with it over the course of this class.
What did you learn about yourself as a student and as a person?
I learned about myself as a student and a person that if you put work and effort into something, you can get it done. I learned this from every project that we did. I incorporated learning this to my other classes and it really has and will help me.
What might you apply from this class to future classes or future life outside of school?
Outside of school, I am going to start painting more. I want to get better at it and make more paintings like I used to do. Also, this class taught me how to wake up earlier. This will be useful throughout my whole life.
